The first impression of Ingestre Hall in Staffordshire is “Wow!” It is a spectacular wedding venue by any measure and I really enjoy photographing weddings there.

Matthew and Sally had planned their wedding day with meticulous attention to detail, there were personal touches significant to themselves and surprises at every turn to entertain their guests.

The first indication that their wedding was going to be really special was when I arrived at Sally’s parent’s house two hours before the wedding ceremony. As is usual at the start of a wedding day, I look for the bridal gown, flowers, shoes and details to photograph whilst the hair and makeup artists are finishing their work. When I saw Sally’s bouquet, I was spellbound! It was a work of art, carefully crafted by Sally’s Mum, Ros and was made up with all manner of objects that reflected Sally’s journey from birth to bride.

The weather was perfect and when everyone was ready it was time for a few portraits of Sally, bridesmaids Jenny, Charlotte & Becky and parents Ros & Nick in the garden before I had to leave to join Matthew at St Mary the Virgin Church, which is adjacent to Ingestre Hall. It’s a beautiful and unique chapel, both inside and out.

Matthew was wearing his grandfather’s pocket watch, another personal touch that reflected the care and thought they had put into their wedding planning. It was touching to see Matthew check the time by his grandfather’s watch. An unprompted action and quite moving!

Following the marriage ceremony, the New Mr & Mrs Harris led their guests on foot to Ingestre Hall for their reception. I’ll leave the images below to describe this fabulous Staffordshire wedding venue, suffice to say it is a simply amazing building!

The theme of Matthew & Sally’s wedding was unashamed fun and they wasted no time with numerous impromptu cricket, croquet, table tennis and boules matches underway. with Sally & Matthew joining in with their guests! Their old school books on the tables in the dining room were an amazing touch, trust this creative and inventive couple to come up with such a great idea.

They are both real ale drinkers (how do they both maintain their weight?) and several local barrels of varied ales were freely available for their guests to quench the thirsts all the competitive activity was generating. I lost count of the number of wedding cakes, everything from pork pie and cheese round cakes, cupcakes, sponge cakes, fruitcakes and even a wedding cake were strategically placed around the venue. It all led to a lot of fun.

Ingestre Hall is a creative wedding photographer’s dream with so many nooks and crannies, windows, arches, a magnificent staircase and the stunning exterior would make it impossible to run out of inspiration, whatever the weather may be doing! I will always remember Matthew and Sally’s wedding at Ingestre Hall for the fabulously creative and fun day with an amazing couple that it was.
